Texas sits first because a shutout of the AL's best record does what it does for team scoring. Kansas City is second on Jensen's near-cycle. Houston and Oakland tied at 13 on different kinds of comeback-and-hold nights. The Cubs are ninth in team FP and still own the second-best pitching line on the board.

Quantrill's 26 is the cleanest starter line of the night: seven innings, two hits, zero runs. Gausman's 24 came in a 2-1 game and is the better argument for "best pitcher on a contender." Henderson's 19 in a loss is the line that should bother Milwaukee fans the least and still bothers them the most.

Jensen's near-cycle is the hitting story. Rutschman's two homers in Baltimore are the one people will remember. Rodríguez stole three bases in a loss and became the first player to open a career with five straight 20-homer, 20-steal seasons. Edman went 4-for-5 in a 3-2 Dodgers walk-off that did not make the featured six and still crashed the hitter table.

What stood out

The AL West stayed a two-game race because Houston beat Chicago and Texas blanked Tampa Bay on the same date. Seattle lost at home and dropped further back. A nine-game slate still moved the September math.
