September 10, 2026 was a five-game Thursday, and the loudest pitching line did not get a win. Jacob deGrom struck out 12, retired his first 15, and left with groin tightness and a 3-0 lead. Seattle scored four in the next inning. Jared Jones took a no-hitter into the seventh and finished a 2-0. Anthony Volpe was recalled in the morning and hit a grand slam by the seventh.
Those three facts do not contradict each other. They are getaway day.

DeGrom at 31 FP is the card, and it came in a loss. Jones at 30 is the other version: seven innings, one hit, a win. Wheeler and Gilbert both sit at 23. Wheeler allowed one run and lost after he left. Gilbert allowed three and won because Texas's bullpen did not record an out in the seventh. Martinez and Pérez both threw zeros and split a 3-1. Fried struck out seven in 3 1/3 and still needed five relievers to finish a 10-3.

Volpe's 14 FP is not a close race. A grand slam, five RBI, and a steal on a recall day is why AthX Engine scoring cares about extra bases and counting stats in the same line. Cruz's 18th homer and two RBI sit second in a 2-0. Smith and Rodríguez both won games with one swing in the late innings and still sit behind a Yankee who needed the seventh to pile on. Pederson's 26th built a 3-0 that did not hold. Mesa's pinch-hit 12th made a 3-0 a 3-1 and did not change the result.

What stood out
DeGrom's 31 FP and Jones's 30 FP are the two clean boards. One is six innings in a loss after a groin scare. The other is seven innings of one-hit ball in a shutout. Volpe's 14 FP is the hitter board in one sentence: recalled, slammed, five RBI.
The pitcher table also has a reminder. Wheeler struck out nine in seven innings and sits behind two men because Cam Smith homered after he left. Gilbert allowed three runs and won. Martinez threw 6 1/3 scoreless and watched Atlanta string together five hits. Team wins and pitcher boards are related. They are not the same list.
