Saturday was a 15-game slate, and the loudest nights were not the playoff races. Jeffrey Springs threw seven scoreless innings in Seattle for his first win since April 14. Riley Greene hit two homers in Cleveland and led every hitter on the board.
The Colorado Rockies and San Francisco Giants tied for the top team score at 16 AthX Engine fantasy points. Colorado needed a six-run fifth. The Giants needed six homers, two of them from Rafael Devers and two from Christian Koss.

Colorado and San Francisco sat one point ahead of Detroit. The Tigers, Red Sox, and Athletics all posted shutout or near-shutout wins that still landed behind two high-run nights. That is how team scoring works when a lineup stacks extra-base hits.

Springs, Gray, and Valdez all threw at least seven innings and allowed no earned runs. Kikuchi's 20 FP is his first win of the season. Cavalli scored 20 in a 6-5 Nationals loss at Dodger Stadium, which is the board refusing to wait on the final. deGrom still cracked the top 10 in a 6-3 extra-inning loss.

Greene sat four clear of Koss and Devers. Two homers, a double, and four RBI will do that. Devers' 35th homer of the year is the most by a Giant since Barry Bonds in 2004. Ewing and Machado scored 10 in losses. Reynolds homered in a 6-1 defeat and still made the board.

What stood out
Three pitchers threw seven scoreless or near-scoreless innings and still left a gap at the top. Springs at 27, Gray at 26, Valdez at 24. The board counted Springs' two-hit, 81-pitch night first because the Athletics also scored six. Gray's 17th win is the September headline in the American League East. It is not automatically the top fantasy line.
Greene beating a pair of two-homer Giants is the other argument. Four hits and four RBI in a shutout beat two-homer games that shared a six-homer box score. Devers and Koss still took over Citi Field. They just did not take over the hitter card.
