August 9, 2026 - Arlington - Four different Orioles hitters left the yard, and Pete Alonso accounted for half of them by himself.
Alonso homered twice, scored three times, and drove in four runs, and the Baltimore Orioles hit four home runs total in a 10-5 win over the Texas Rangers.
A five-run first two innings sets the tone
Baltimore didn't waste any time. Colton Cowser led off the second with a solo shot, and Alonso followed a few batters later with a two-run blast that made it 5-0 before Texas starter Kumar Rocker had finished two full innings. Rocker's final line, three innings, seven hits, six earned runs, was over before the game was a third finished.
Texas answered with the loudest swing of its night. Brandon Nimmo hit a three-run homer in the third to cut the deficit to 5-3, and for an inning it looked like the Rangers might claw all the way back into a game that had gotten away from them fast.
Baltimore shut that down quickly. Alonso's second homer, a two-run shot in the fourth, pushed the lead back to five, and Tyler O'Neill added a two-run blast of his own in the sixth to make it 10-3. Four home runs, two from Alonso alone, turned a game Texas had briefly made interesting back into a laugher.
A bullpen finishes what the lineup started
Baltimore starter Chayce Povich didn't have his best stuff, three earned runs in three innings, but the offense made sure it never mattered. Reliever Yeriel Hiraldo took over and delivered two scoreless innings to keep Texas from building any real momentum, and the Rangers' final push, two runs in the ninth, arrived too late to matter against a five-run cushion.
Texas got a strong story from Nimmo's blast, but one big swing wasn't enough to overcome a Baltimore lineup that kept finding the same right-field seats all afternoon.
What a four-homer afternoon says about this Baltimore lineup
Alonso has been the headline addition to a Baltimore lineup looking to make noise in a crowded AL wild-card race, and afternoons like this one are exactly why. Two homers, four RBIs, and a supporting cast that chipped in three more home runs around him turned a competitive early game into a laugher by the sixth inning. For Texas, Rocker's three-inning outing is the kind of start a staff needs to forget quickly, especially with the Rangers still fighting to stay above .500 in a tough division.
