Twenty empty plate appearances, then Pages up the middle.
October 7, 2026 - Atlanta - The Los Angeles Dodgers had gone 0-for-their first 19 plate appearances with runners in scoring position in this National League Division Series, the MLB recap said. Andy Pages ended that on a 3-2 pitch from Robert Suarez in the seventh. He lined it up the middle. Teoscar Hernández scored. Tommy Edman scored. 3-1.
The Dodgers beat the Atlanta Braves 4-1 in NLDS Game 4 and won the series 3-1. They are in a third straight NLCS. Pages had gone hitless through the first two games of the series. Dave Roberts had still said he believed in him. Wednesday was the at-bat that paid that back.
Clear. 79 degrees. Wind 3 mph, varies. First pitch 6:09 p.m. ET. Attendance 41,173. The game lasted 2 hours, 54 minutes. Los Angeles has won its last five road postseason games dating to Game 2 of the 2025 World Series, tying a franchise record, the MLB recap said.
Harris on the first pitch. Two errors in the second.
Michael Harris II singled on Tyler Glasnow's first pitch, stole second, and scored from third on a wild pitch that bounced off Will Smith's chest protector, the Associated Press recap on ESPN said. 1-0. That was Atlanta's only run. Glasnow walked five in 4 2/3 innings and allowed one hit. After two more walks in the fifth, Alex Vesia got Matt Olson to ground to second. ESPN noted Atlanta drew 18 walks in the series and scored from none of them.
Los Angeles tied it in the second without a clean hit. Shohei Ohtani walked, stole second, and went to third on Sean Murphy's throw into center. Max Muncy then popped one into shallow left. Mauricio Dubón dropped it. Ohtani scored. 1-1. Tyler Mahle had been in a groove after that, the MLB recap said, until Teoscar Hernández singled with one out in the seventh.
Didier Fuentes, who had thrown 3 2/3 scoreless in Game 2, walked pinch-hitter Josue De Paula and Kyle Tucker to load the bases. Edman ran for De Paula. Suarez came in. Pages did not miss the 3-2 pitch. "I like being in those at-bats," Pages said in Spanish, per MLB.com. "There are times the result comes, sometimes not. But I prepare to be in those spots, and today I was able to get the result."
Glasnow's walks, Henriquez's win, Díaz's ninth.
Glasnow was making his first start since Sept. 24. Five walks. One hit. One earned. Five strikeouts. 4 2/3 innings. The staff around him finished the rest. Vesia inherited the fifth. Teoscar Hernández crashed into the wall on Ozzie Albies's double leading off the sixth, the AP recap said, pointed to his head and neck, and stayed in. Edgardo Henriquez stranded Albies at second, threw 1 2/3 scoreless, and got the win.
Tanner Scott threw a perfect eighth: two strikeouts, a hold. Edwin Díaz threw a 1-2-3 ninth for his second save of the series. Los Angeles allowed three hits. Atlanta made two errors. Both of them scored the tying run in the second. The go-ahead runs waited until Pages.
Mahle, a Newport Beach native who grew up a Dodgers fan, the AP recap said, threw 6 1/3: three hits, two runs, one earned, one walk, four strikeouts. He is 0-1. The extra rest after the Wild Card round got him through six. It did not get him through Hernández's single.
Miguel Rojas sat after leaving Tuesday with lower back soreness. Roberts said he would not be available off the bench, ESPN reported. Ronald Acuña Jr. started in right one day after a late move to DH with right knee soreness.
Muncy's 19th. Milwaukee on Sunday.
Muncy homered to right off Raisel Iglesias in the ninth. 4-1. ESPN said it was his 19th postseason homer with the Dodgers, extending his franchise record. Pages finished 2-for-3 with two RBI. Ohtani went 0-for-3 with a walk, a steal, a run, and a strikeout. Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts did not get a hit. The series still ended in four.
Game 1 of the NLCS is Sunday at American Family Field. The Milwaukee Brewers finished the Padres 3-1 later Wednesday. The Dodgers are bidding for a fifth three-peat in World Series history, the MLB recap said. Three wins down. Eight to go if they are going to get there.
Enrique Hernández told MLB.com you cannot carry previous postseasons into this one. Last October, Pages's .211 OPS was the worst by any player with at least 50 plate appearances in a single postseason, that wrap said. He was benched starting in World Series Game 5 and still made a Game 7 catch. Wednesday he took a 3-2 pitch up the middle and sent Los Angeles to Milwaukee.
AthX Engine after the baseball
AthX Engine (our projection and scoring system) put Los Angeles at 10 team fantasy points on a 4-1. Mahle had 16.33 pitching FP in a quality start that still took the loss. Scott had 10. Glasnow had 9.66. Díaz had 9. Muncy had 6 hitting FP. Pages had 4. Atlanta sat at -3. Those numbers are the clincher: a win, four runs, one against, and a two-run single after a series of empty RISP at-bats.
Fantasy points measure the night under platform scoring rules. Share prices also move with traders through dynamic pricing. They are related. They are not the same number.
