Saturday opened with a debut that did not look like one. Joshua Báez hit three home runs in St. Louis's 8-4 win over Chicago. In Anaheim, Reid Detmers needed one run and got it: eight innings, two hits, no walks, 11 strikeouts, and a 1-0 win over Kansas City.

What stood out
The pitcher board rewarded length and zeros. Detmers and Gray stacked clean innings. Cantillo, Hancock, Webb, and Luzardo all cleared 25. The 1-0 Angels win barely moved a team table that preferred 8- and 10-run nights.
The hitter board belonged to a debut. Báez outscored every established bat. Seattle's depth showed up as three names in the top 10 hitters on one slate.
