Kickers are not an afterthought on AthX Engine. They are not WR1s either.
The card pays real money for distance: 7 points for a make inside 40, 9 from 40 to 49, 11 from 50-plus. Extra points are 2. Misses hurt. That means the best kicker projections sit in a strong-but-not-star band, and the board rewards legs that attempt long field goals in offenses that move the ball without always punching it in.

Aubrey is the clear K1. The rest is offense quality.
Brandon Aubrey leads at 367 because Dallas still moves into field-goal range and he still has the leg to make the long ones pay 11 points under AthX Engine. Ka'imi Fairbairn and Cameron Dicker follow in offenses that create repeated scoring chances without always finishing from the 1-yard line.
That is the whole kicker puzzle. You want volume of attempts and a few 50-yard makes. A perfect red-zone offense that never settles for three can actually cap a kicker.
Domes, climate, and camp jobs
Indoor and mild-climate kickers often keep attempt quality higher late in the year. That shows up in names like Aubrey and Fairbairn more than in pure brand recognition. Harrison Butker at 10th is still very good; Kansas City's scoring profile just does not auto-crown him K1 on this card.
Jake Bates in Detroit and Will Reichard in Minnesota are the younger legs tied to real offenses. Evan McPherson stays in the teens because long-range ability still matters even when Cincinnati's game scripts swing week to week.
Camp will end a few competitions (some teams still list open kicking jobs into August). When a veteran loses the job in the preseason, tear up the bottom of this board and keep the top.
How kickers fit AthX before IPO
A top kicker projection is a strong role player on the season board, not a skill-position star. Projected FP is still not share price. Use August to learn the scoring table, then trade when IPO week opens.
