The trade details

The Twins acquired Kremer from Baltimore on Friday, one day after grabbing Minter from the New York Mets. Outfielder Jhomnardo Reyes, an 18-year-old originally signed out of the Dominican Republic, went to the Orioles. Reyes ranked as Minnesota's No. 24 prospect.

The Twins also transferred pitcher Mike Paredes to the 60-day injured list to open a roster spot for Kremer.

Who is Dean Kremer

Kremer is a 30-year-old right-hander with a 1-4 record and a 6.50 ERA through seven starts this year. He missed more than two months this season with a quad strain. Over his last four outings, he allowed 20 runs in 19 innings.

Kremer was a rotation stalwart in Baltimore from 2022 through 2025, making 106 starts over that stretch with a 3.95 ERA. He posted his best season in 2023, going 13-5 with a 4.12 ERA as the Orioles reached the playoffs. He won't qualify for free agency until after the 2027 season. He is playing on a $5.75 million arbitration salary, and the Twins are assuming roughly $1.75 million of it for the rest of the year.

The Twins lost both Mick Abel and David Festa earlier this month, and both are expected to miss the rest of the season. Kremer restocks a rotation that needed innings.

Minnesota improved to 56-55 after beating Seattle 5-3 Friday, its first winning record since April 21. The front office isn't done. Trade talks remain open even after the two deals. The Twins are not expected to part with starting pitcher Joe Ryan or center fielder Byron Buxton.
