That was the first run on a night the Minnesota Twins would need more than one answer. The Atlanta Braves tied it, took the lead, tied it again on a balk, and still went home with a third straight loss in the series.

Final: Twins 6, Braves 4. Minnesota has won three in a row. Atlanta is 74-53 and still in first place in the NL East, but this series has been choppy.

Bradley buys time, Clemens breaks it open

Taj Bradley worked five innings, two hits, one earned run, seven strikeouts. That start kept the Twins close while the offense found its footing. Ronald Acuña Jr. singled home Austin Riley in the fifth to tie it 1-1. Josh Bell walked with the bases loaded and Culpepper scored. 2-1 Twins.

Then Kody Clemens doubled to right. Brooks Lee scored. Buxton scored. 4-1. The fifth is the inning you circle on the card.

Atlanta answered in the sixth. Riley Thomas singled home Olson. Ozzie Albies hit a sacrifice fly, Harris scoring. Thomas scored on a balk. 4-4. Weird, messy, very August.

The seventh that settled it

Clemens singled home Bell in the seventh. 5-4. Lee singled home Clemens. 6-4. Yimi Gómez saved his 20th with a scoreless ninth. Bradley did not get the decision, but the Twins do not reach that seventh without five innings of one-run ball.
