August 27, 2026 – San Francisco – Drew Gilbert homered in the first. Gabriel Moreno tied it in the fourth. The San Francisco Giants waited until the eighth, then scored four and beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-1 at Oracle Park.
A night after blowing a 9-3 lead to Cincinnati, San Francisco held a one-run game and then piled on. Landen Roupp threw five innings and allowed one run.
One-one into the fifth, then a four-run eighth
Gilbert's homer, his eighth, made it 1-0. Moreno's homer, his 11th, tied it. Gilbert's sacrifice fly in the fifth scored Christian Koss. 2-1. That lead held through seven.
The eighth: Bryce Eldridge doubled home Jung Hoo Lee, with Rafael Devers to third. Jonah Cox singled home Devers. Turner Hill singled home Eldridge. Shay Whitcomb's sacrifice bunt scored Cox. 6-1.
Jose Cabrera lasted 4 1/3 and allowed two. Trent Harris threw two scoreless. Carson Seymour finished the eighth. Arizona never scored after Moreno's homer.
Gilbert's first-inning homer and fifth-inning sac fly bookended the tight part of the night. The eighth was the part Arizona could not answer.
