First win since May, and it looked like it
July 24, 2026 – New York – Roki Sasaki had been waiting nine starts for a W. Citi Field finally gave him one.
Seven innings. One run. Three hits. Nine strikeouts. He retired his last nine batters and punched out five of them. Kyle Tucker supplied the loudest swing, a two-run homer. The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the New York Mets 4-2, per the Associated Press.
Luis Robert Jr. tagged Sasaki for a solo shot in the second. That was almost the only hard contact all night.
Tucker and Freeman finish it
Los Angeles scratched across a run in the fourth, another in the seventh, then Tucker’s eighth-inning blast with Freddie Freeman aboard made it 4-1. Francisco Alvarez answered with a solo shot off Evan Phillips. Tanner Scott locked the ninth for save No. 16.
Brooks Raley (4-5) took the loss. The Mets sit at 43-61 and keep searching for nights that don’t end this way.
