Two complete-looking starts, a cornfield, and a 13-1 that owned the board
Cade Cavalli took a no-hitter into the seventh at Nationals Park. Braxton Ashcraft finished nine innings in Miami on 85 pitches. AthX Engine scored both at 35 pitching fantasy points. The team board still belonged to Pittsburgh, because 13 runs travel farther than a one-hitter when you are adding catcher homers on top of a complete game.
Nine games went final. Three of them were shutouts. Kyle Schwarber hit two into the Iowa corn and still sat behind Rafael Flores Jr. on the hitter list. That is Thursday in one sentence: the pitching was historic, and the loudest offensive night was not the Field of Dreams Game.

Pittsburgh at 28 is not a crowded race. Washington, Boston, and Los Angeles all shut someone out and landed at 17. Philadelphia's 16 came with three homers into a cornfield and still sat fifth, because 7-1 is not 13-1. Seattle beat the Yankees 1-0 and landed 10th. A pitching duel does not fill a team column.

Cavalli and Ashcraft tied at 35 and did not have the same night. Cavalli's was eight innings and one hit after a no-hit bid. Ashcraft's was nine innings, 85 pitches, and a ninth-inning homer that ruined the shutout but not the complete game. Tolle went eight on two hits in Toronto. Gilbert threw six scoreless at Yankee Stadium in a 1-0 win. Scherzer still landed ninth in a 7-0 loss, because five innings and one run is a line the board keeps.

Flores at 14 is two three-run homers and six RBI. Schwarber's two into the corn tied four other hitters at 12. Durbin's 12 is a grand slam and five RBI in a game Boston led 1-0 for seven innings. Marsh reached four times in Iowa and outscored Schwarber on the board. Three Pirates in the top eight tells you what 16 hits looks like when the catcher also goes deep twice.

What stood out
Thursday's pitcher board was deeper than the team board. Cavalli, Ashcraft, Tolle, Gilbert, and Ureña all threw six-plus scoreless or near-scoreless innings. Only Pittsburgh turned that into a 28. A 1-0 Mariners win at Yankee Stadium put Gilbert fourth among pitchers and Seattle 10th among teams. That is the split in one night: AthX Engine will pay a starter for outs. It will not pretend a 1-0 final is a 13-1 final.
The hitter board was a pile-up at 12. Flores cleared it because six RBI still count more than two solo shots in Iowa. Schwarber led the majors in homers after the game. He did not lead Thursday.
