Ten finals on Thursday. Two of them needed extra time: San Jose 3-2 in overtime at St. Louis, Vegas 4-3 in a shootout over Toronto. AthX Engine (our projection and scoring system) scored every NHL box. We recapped the six highest team-FP games and swapped in Tampa Bay's 3-2 as the goalie gem just outside that cut. We did not invent extra games.
Top team fantasy scores
AthX Engine team points pay a win, half-credit for an overtime loss, then goals for and against. A 7-2 jumps the board. A 4-0 shutout still pays. Regulation losses that get outscored hard floor at 0.
| Rank | Team | Score | AthX Engine FP |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Carolina Hurricanes | 7-2 vs VAN | 25.40 |
| 2 | Colorado Avalanche | 7-3 at CGY | 24.40 |
| 3 | Boston Bruins | 6-1 vs UTA | 24.20 |
| 4 | Nashville Predators | 5-2 at MTL | 21.00 |
| 5 | Dallas Stars | 4-0 at BUF | 20.80 |
| 6 | New York Islanders | 4-1 vs CHI | 19.80 |
| 7 | Vegas Golden Knights | 4-3 SO vs TOR | 17.80 |
| 8 | Tampa Bay Lightning | 3-2 vs MIN | 16.60 |
| 8 | San Jose Sharks | 3-2 OT at STL | 16.60 |
| 10 | Ottawa Senators | 2-1 vs PHI | 15.40 |
Carolina is the club night on 7-2. Colorado and Boston sit a point behind on 7-3 and 6-1. Dallas's shutout is 20.80. Toronto keeps 8.60 on the shootout loss. St. Louis keeps 7.40 on the overtime loss. Several regulation losers floor at 0.
Top skaters
C, W, and D only. Goalies have their own table. Sean Walker, Jake DeBrusk, and Adam Edstrom are not linked from prior AthX recaps, so those names stay unlinked.
| Rank | Player | Pos | Team | AthX Engine FP |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | David Pastrnak | W | BOS | 16.40 |
| 2 | Logan Stankoven | C | CAR | 16.00 |
| 3 | John Carlson | D | TBL | 15.40 |
| 4 | Mikko Rantanen | W | DAL | 12.70 |
| 5 | Cale Makar | D | COL | 11.70 |
| 6 | Andrei Svechnikov | W | CAR | 11.40 |
| 7 | Jack Eichel | C | VGK | 11.10 |
| 8 | Bo Horvat | C | NYI | 10.90 |
| 9 | Sean Walker | D | CAR | 10.50 |
| 10 | Jake DeBrusk | W | VAN | 10.40 |
Pastrnak's 16.40 is two power-play goals, two assists, and four shots in a 6-1. Stankoven's 16.00 is a hat trick, five shots, one block, and one power-play bonus from the box. The NHL landing tagged one of those goals short-handed. The box did not fill a short-handed count, so there is no extra +1. Carlson's 15.40 is two goals, nine shots, and three blocks. Rantanen's 12.70 is a four-point night on a shutout. Walker had four assists in the 7-2. Edstrom's two empty-netters (10.20) sit just outside this ten.
Top goalies
Win, 0.4 per save, minus 1.2 per goal against, plus 2 for a shutout, plus 0.5 for an overtime loss. Dennis Hildeby, Sergei Bobrovsky, and Alex Nedeljkovic are unlinked.
| Rank | Player | Team | AthX Engine FP |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Jeremy Swayman | BOS | 16.20 |
| 2 | Jake Oettinger | DAL | 15.40 |
| 3 | Dennis Hildeby | TBL | 14.20 |
| 4 | Juuse Saros | NSH | 13.40 |
| 5 | Linus Ullmark | OTT | 13.00 |
| 6 | Sergei Bobrovsky | TOR | 12.90 |
| 7 | Ilya Sorokin | NYI | 10.60 |
| 8 | Alex Nedeljkovic | SJS | 10.20 |
| 9 | Scott Wedgewood | COL | 9.80 |
| 10 | Jesper Wallstedt | MIN | 9.20 |
Swayman's 36 saves in a 6-1 sit on top of every skater except Pastrnak. Oettinger's second straight shutout (26 saves) is 15.40. Hildeby's Lightning debut is 34 saves in a 3-2. Bobrovsky's 40-save overtime loss in Vegas is 12.90, the card paying 0.5 for the extra-time loss. Ullmark's 28-save 2-1 over Philadelphia did not get a recap. It still shows here.
Featured games
Thursday had ten finals. These six are recapped. The Lightning game is the goalie gem just outside the top six team lines (Islanders 4-1 Chicago was 19.80 and is not recapped).
What stood out
Three things.
First, the skater board belongs to a captain who finally scored and a Hurricane who scored three ways in the landing file. Pastrnak had gone four games without a goal. Stankoven's hat trick still leads Carolina even without the short-handed bonus the box left blank.
Second, the goalie board is heavier than the skater board after rank 3. Swayman, Oettinger, and Hildeby all cleared 14.00. Oettinger's shutout streak is at 146:55, the NHL recap said.
Third, Calgary is 0-4-0. Colorado dropped 7-3 on it a night after losing in Winnipeg. That is a 24.40 team line on a back-to-back, and it is also a Flames club that has not found a point yet.
