August 25, 2026 – Miami – Mickey Gasper homered in the second. He homered again in the sixth. Neither one ended the night.

Jarren Duran ended it. Grand slam to right-center in the 11th. Willson Contreras, Jahmai Jones, and Andruw Monasterio all scored in front of him. The Boston Red Sox beat the Miami Marlins 7-3 in 11 innings at loanDepot park.

Boston had seven hits. Miami had seven hits. The difference was extra innings and one ball Duran did not miss.

Tied at 2, tied at 3, then the slam

Gasper's first homer, his fourth of the year, made it 1-0. Miami tied it in the fifth on Brian Navarreto's sacrifice fly. Gasper's second homer, his fifth, made it 2-1 in the sixth. Heriberto Hernández answered immediately with his 20th homer, a solo shot that tied it again.

Gasper's line is the one that sits next to the slam: 2-for-2, two homers, two walks, two RBI, two runs, no strikeouts. He did not need extra innings to own the box score. Boston still needed Duran to leave town with a win.
