How the game turned
Casey Legumina worked a perfect 1⅓ innings as the opener before Ian Seymour took over and carried the no-hit bid deep into the night. Seymour went 6⅔ scoreless frames with seven strikeouts and one walk, and Tampa Bay's staff did not allow a hit until the ninth.
Caminero tied a franchise record with his three homers, going deep twice off Seth Lugo (3-5) and once off position player Tyler Tolbert in the ninth. Mesa's three-run shot in the fourth made it 7-0. The Rays finished with 13 runs on 15 hits as nine of ten batters reached base.
Pitching and matchup notes
Craig Kimbrel entered the ninth still protecting the no-hitter and shutout. He walked Starling Marte, struck out Tyler Tolbert, then allowed a two-run homer to Carter Jensen that ended both bids. Kansas City finished with one hit.
The Rays split the four-game series and head into a weekend set against Cleveland still at Tropicana Field.
