The lead
June 25, 2026 - Toronto - Wyatt Langford hit a three-run homer, Jake Burger and Joc Pederson also went deep, and the Texas Rangers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 6-5 at Rogers Centre, per the Associated Press recap on CBS Sports.
Texas bounced back after losing the previous two games on the road trip.
How the game turned
Pederson led off with his 12th homer after an 11-pitch at-bat that included seven foul balls, a 402-foot drive into the second deck. Langford and Burger connected in a five-run third against Kevin Gausman (4-6), Langford's eighth homer in 19 games since returning from the injured list June 5.
Toronto answered with three in the fifth on Davis Schneider's sacrifice fly and Myles Straw's two-run double. Kazuma Okamoto cut the deficit to one with a two-run homer off Jacob Latz in the ninth, his 18th of the season.
Latz recovered to retire Alejandro Kirk on a grounder and strike out pinch hitter Brandon Valenzuela for his 15th save in 17 chances.
Pitching and matchup notes
MacKenzie Gore (5-6) allowed three runs on four hits in seven innings, snapping a four-start winless streak. Gausman gave up six runs on 10 hits in six frames, his sixth straight winless outing after allowing seven runs in two innings at Chicago on June 19.
Corey Seager went 0-for-3 with two walks in his return from the concussion list after missing 12 games.
Bats that changed the board
Langford finished with 13 hitting FP and Burger added 11 FP in AthX Engine scoring. Gore's seven-inning line pushed Texas to 22 team FP on the Thursday card.
AthX Engine fantasy angle
AthX Engine rewards multi-homer outburgs and quality lefty starts on the same card. Langford's three-run shot and Gore's seven-inning bridge register on the daily boards, separate from dynamic pricing.
What comes next
Nathan Eovaldi starts for Texas against Patrick Corbin on Friday at Rogers Centre, per the MLB schedule.
