Raiders 27, Dolphins 13: Jeanty and Cousins Open Allegiant 1-0

September 13, 2026 - Las Vegas - Kirk Cousins' first drive as a Raider lasted 16 plays, 93 yards, and 8:58. It ended with Jack Bech in the end zone from 15 yards. Las Vegas did not trail after that.

Cousins completed 21 of 30 for 160 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. Ashton Jeanty ran 23 times for 102 yards and caught six for 45 and two scores. The Las Vegas Raiders beat the Miami Dolphins 27-13 at Allegiant Stadium in Klint Kubiak's head-coaching debut.

Cousins is the 15th quarterback to throw 300 career touchdown passes. He finished the day at 301, one ahead of John Elway for 14th. He is the first Raiders quarterback with three touchdown passes in a season opener since Kerry Collins against New England in 2005. He completed his first 10 throws. The two interceptions came later. The lead held.

17-3, then a 14-yard scramble

Matt Gay made it 10-0 from 47. Riley Patterson answered from 41. Cousins then found Jeanty from 13 yards, the first of two identical distances to the running back. 17-3. Patterson hit from 37 at the gun. 17-6 at the half.

Malik Willis, under pressure all afternoon, took the third quarter's first real Miami chance and ran 14 yards. 17-13, 12:44 left in the third. The building tightened. Dylan Laube ran the kickoff back 50 yards to midfield. Five plays later, Cousins play-actioned Jeanty from 13 again. 24-13.

Gay added a 30-yarder after a 13-play, 54-yard grind. 27-13. Miami did not score in the fourth. Jeremy Chinn forced a fumble. Quay Walker recovered it. Victory formation followed.

Jeanty's 102 rushing yards were his third career 100-yard game. The ankle sprain from Aug. 23 did not show. He finished with 147 scrimmage yards. Las Vegas had one 90-plus-yard touchdown drive all of last season. Kubiak opened with one.

Five sacks, and Crosby to 70

Willis completed 15 of 27 for 220 yards, one interception, and that 14-yard score. He was sacked five times. Kwity Paye had two of them. Maxx Crosby had 1.5 and became the third Raider to 70 career sacks since the statistic became official in 1982. Nakobe Dean and Folorunso Fatukasi got home on third down. Miami went 2-for-10 on third down.

De'Von Achane ran 11 times for 36 and caught four for 30. Caleb Douglas led Miami with five catches for 94. It was not enough volume against a front that lived in the backfield. Cousins did not need 300 yards. He needed Jeanty, a clean first drive, and a pass rush that never let Willis settle.
