Phillies 7, Diamondbacks 1: Harper Goes 4-for-4 Behind Luzardo

Two in the first. Harper never made an out.

September 1, 2026 – Phoenix – Kyle Schwarber walked. Trea Turner doubled him home. Bryce Harper bunted for a single. Luis Arraez grounded into a double play, and Turner scored anyway. 2-0, visitors, Chase Field, first inning.

The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-1. Harper went 4-for-4 with a walk. Jesús Luzardo threw 6 2/3 innings and allowed one run. Arizona's only run was Jordan Lawlar going deep in the fifth.

Rodriguez lasted five. The eighth made it a rout.

Eduardo Rodriguez threw five innings: eight hits, three runs, three walks, three strikeouts. Harper scored the third run on an Alec Bohm single in the fifth. Lawlar answered with a homer to left-center, his fourth. 3-1. That was Arizona's night on the scoreboard.

Philadelphia scored three in the eighth against Gerardo Carrillo, who did not record an out. Justin Crawford singled Bryson Stott home. Schwarber lifted a sacrifice fly. Harper singled Crawford home. Bohm scored in the ninth on Stott's sacrifice fly.

Harper: 4-for-4, walk, one run, one RBI. Turner had the first-inning double. Bohm went 2-for-4 with a double. Arraez had two hits. J.T. Realmuto scored in the eighth. Stott walked, stole a base, and drove in the seventh run.

Corbin Carroll did not get a hit. Ketel Marte singled once. Lawlar went 2-for-3 with the homer. That is a thin home lineup against a left-hander who was not giving extra innings away.

Luzardo to Bowlan. Arizona stopped hitting.

Luzardo: 6 2/3 innings, six hits, one run, one walk, six strikeouts, one homer. The homer was Lawlar. Everything else was traffic that did not score. Jonathan Bowlan struck out two in 1 1/3 scoreless. Chase Shugart threw a clean ninth.

Taylor Clarke and Justin Martinez each gave Arizona a scoreless inning after Rodriguez. Carrillo's zero-out eighth is the line Arizona will hate in the morning. Derek Law and Blake Walston finished a game that was already gone.

A 7-1 road win on Harper's 4-for-4 is a clean September night. Luzardo did not need a shutdown. He needed the one run to stay the one run. It did.
