Fifteen runs, one winner
July 11, 2026 – San Diego – This wasn't a pitcher's duel. It was two lineups trading punches until somebody ran out of answers.
The San Diego Padres edged the Toronto Blue Jays 8-7 at Petco Park, per the Associated Press recap on CBS Sports. Toronto scored seven times — and still lost by a run. That's the whole story in one sentence.
Back and forth until the last swing mattered
Both teams kept answering. You score, we score. Neither bullpen could shut the door long enough to turn it into a comfortable lead.
San Diego won because its hits landed at the right moments, not because it dominated every inning. That's slugfest baseball — messy, loud, and decided by whoever blinks last. The Padres didn't blink.
France and Vladdy on the same number, different sides
Ty France paced San Diego at 10 hitting FP. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. matched that 10 hitting FP on the Toronto side — two veteran bats doing veteran-bat things in a game where pitching wasn't the headline.
Neither staff slowed the offenses much. Runs kept showing up. For fantasy purposes, that volume shows up too — just not always on the winning team.
A modest team total for a loud box score
AthX Engine had the Padres at 12 team FP on the Saturday card — not a team-board headline, but a win is a win, and France's line still pops on the hitter side. Daily fantasy scoring from AthX Engine isn't the same thing as share movement under dynamic pricing; this game is a good example of why. Lots of runs, tight final, different value on each ledger.
Sunday in San Diego
The Padres and Blue Jays closed their series the next day at Petco. For Saturday, though, it was the kind of game where both dugouts had something to point at — and only one club got the 8-7 walk-off feeling, even if "walk-off" wasn't the literal ending.
