Orioles’ Jordan Westburg Diagnosed With Partial UCL Tear, Out Until at Least May

Baltimore Orioles third baseman Jordan Westburg has been diagnosed with a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his right elbow and will be out until at least May, president of baseball operations Mike Elias announced (February 20–23, 2026). Westburg received a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection in hopes of avoiding Tommy John or an internal brace procedure; his timeline will depend on how he responds. Westburg, a 2024 All-Star, also entered spring training with an oblique strain (expected to resolve before the elbow). He has said the repeated setbacks have been frustrating. When he returns, he could initially serve as designated hitter. The Orioles added Thairo Estrada for infield depth following the news.

What It Means for AthX

Westburg’s share price will reflect extended absence; dynamic pricing will factor in zero or limited production until he’s cleared. Infield and DH usage may shift; Estrada gets a short-term opportunity bump. Dividend-focused holders should treat Westburg as out until at least May and watch for updates.
