Zeroes at altitude
July 22, 2026 – Denver – A night after an 8-7 Coors loss, Washington wrote the opposite script.
Cade Cavalli (7-4) threw six scoreless, allowed four hits, walked two, and struck out eight. CJ Abrams went 4-for-5. And the Washington Nationals blanked the Colorado Rockies 8-0, per CBS Sports.
Fourteen hits. Three Rockies errors. Griffin Hughes (0-2) took the loss.
Series split, louder deadline math
Washington sits near .500 with young talent and seller leanings on some veterans. Cavalli nights like this complicate the easy "sell everyone" take. Colorado remains an obvious seller after already shipping Seth Halvorsen to Los Angeles.
AthX Engine angle
Cavalli 24 pitching FP led Wednesday. Nationals 19 team FP. Abrams kept hitting after Tuesday's two-homer board. Dynamic pricing still asks whether García Jr. stays or moves.
What comes next
Two weeks to August 3. Washington can buy, sell, or both.
