The lead
May 25, 2026 - Toronto - Janson Junk pitched five innings for his first win since April 28, Kyle Stowers and Javier Sanoja each had two doubles and two RBIs, and the Miami Marlins extended their winning streak to four with an 8-2 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre, per the Associated Press recap on ESPN.
Canadian outfielder Owen Caissie went 2-for-4 with two RBI as Miami improved to 14-5 all-time at Rogers Centre—the Marlins' first game under open skies in Toronto this season.
How the game turned
Otto Lopez's sacrifice fly in the first gave Miami a 1-0 lead. Sanoja and Caissie doubled in consecutive at-bats in the fifth for 2-0, but Yohendrick Piñango's RBI single cut the deficit in half.
Stowers dropped a two-out RBI double into shallow left in the sixth, and after Jakob Marsee walked, Sanoja doubled over Piñango's head for a 5-1 cushion. Ernie Clement homered for Toronto in the sixth, but Miami added three runs in the eighth on Stowers' second double, a Marsee groundout, and Caissie's single.
Pitching and matchup notes
Junk (3-5) allowed one run on eight hits over five innings. Rookie Trey Yesavage (2-2) surrendered a career-high five runs in 6⅔ innings—all five hits were doubles.
AthX Engine graded Miami at 17 team FP on the Memorial Day card, with spread production across the lineup rather than a single 12 FP bat.
Bats that changed the board
Stowers and Sanoja combined for four doubles and four RBI. Yesavage had allowed just three earned runs in his first five starts of 2026 before Monday's outing. Toronto played without Vladimir Guerrero Jr. after an elbow injury the previous day.
AthX Engine fantasy angle
Doubles-heavy offense and a steady Junk start are the AthX Engine path to 17 team FP without a homer in the box score—table-setters and gap power counted just as much as long-ball nights elsewhere on the slate. Daily scoring remains separate from dynamic pricing.
What comes next
Sandy Alcantara (3-3) starts for Miami on Tuesday against Braydon Fisher (2-1) for Toronto, per AP probables.
