Jets 5, Wild 2: Perfetti Twice, Scheifele's Three Points

October 13, 2026 - Winnipeg - Cole Perfetti was already in the slot 1:50 into the game. Neal Pionk shot from the point. The tip went under Calvin Pickard's blocker. Canada Life Centre had 1-0, and Minnesota was on the second night of a back-to-back that never got the lead back.

The Winnipeg Jets beat the Minnesota Wild 5-2. Winnipeg is 4-1-1, four of five (4-1-0), the NHL recap said. Minnesota is 4-2-1 after a 4-2 win over Vegas on Monday. Shots were 25-21 Winnipeg. Attendance was 14,108. Winnipeg went 1-for-2 on the power play. Minnesota went 0-for-2. Pickard, Cole Koepke, Jonas Brodin, Vladislav Namestnikov, and Dylan Samberg are not seeded on AthX player pages, so those names stay unlinked.

Mark Scheifele had a goal and two assists. Perfetti scored twice. Kyle Connor had a goal and an assist. Pionk had two assists. Stuart Skinner stopped 19 of 21. The AP recap had him 3-0-1, no regulation loss. Kirill Kaprizov scored twice. Pickard stopped 20 of 25 in his Minnesota debut.

Punch for punch, then the power play

Perfetti's tip at 1:50 was his fourth of the season, the AP recap said. Pickard told NHL.com he was jittery early, the guys played well, then Winnipeg took over.

Kaprizov tied it at 8:47. He intercepted Samberg's pass, Skinner stopped the first try, and Kaprizov batted the rebound out of the air. Scheifele made it 2-1 at 17:54. Pionk circled the net and fed a cross-crease tap-in. Connor the other assist. Kaprizov tipped Quinn Hughes at 18:38, Brodin the second helper. 2-2 after one.

Winnipeg coach Scott Arniel told NHL.com Minnesota kept punch-for-punch in the first and Winnipeg's detail getting out of its zone was not good. Minnesota coach John Hynes said the Scheifele-Connor-Perfetti line plays straight ahead, competitive on pucks, in sync.

Perfetti's power-play one-timer from the left hash at 16:36 of the second, Gabriel Vilardi and Scheifele, put Winnipeg back in front 3-2. It held.

Connor off the post, Koepke on a 2-on-1

Connor spun off Tyler Pitlick at 4:06 of the third and ripped one from the high slot off the post and in. 4-2. The NHL recap called it his 116th career third-period goal, tied with Ilya Kovalchuk for second in franchise history behind Scheifele (137). Koepke scored on a 2-on-1 with Namestnikov at 14:42, wrist shot low stick side. 5-2.

Scheifele told NHL.com those two are so much fun to play with. Arniel on Scheifele: instincts, high pace, on his toes, loves the puck. Perfetti said Pionk knows when to shoot and when to make the pass. The AP recap said the top line combined for seven points, Connor has goals in three straight and in five of six, and Perfetti has five goals after needing 40 games for five last season.

Hynes on Kaprizov: playing fast, competing on pucks, scoring in different ways, five goals in three games and eight points on a four-game streak. The NHL recap put Kaprizov at 45 and 46 career game-tying goals, past Zach Parise for third in franchise history. Hughes's assist made it seven straight games with a point (two goals, eight assists) and an assist in every game this season.

Jared Spurgeon was a late scratch with an upper-body injury. Minnesota placed Nico Sturm on injured reserve earlier Tuesday after Monday's shot off him in the first. Hynes had no updates. Blake Coleman played his 700th NHL game, the NHL recap said. Coleman is unlinked.

Minnesota hosts St. Louis on Thursday. Winnipeg visits Chicago that night.
