Browns 37, Patriots 13: Gabriel's Three TD Passes Close the Preseason

August 27, 2026 - Cleveland - Dillon Gabriel threw three touchdown passes. Two of them went to Luke Floriea. Taylen Green then directed a 15-play, 98-yard drive that ate 9:26 and ended with Davon Booth's 9-yard run.

The Cleveland Browns beat the New England Patriots 37-13 in the preseason finale for both clubs. Cleveland finished 1-2. New England finished 1-1-1.

Drake Maye did not play. Tommy DeVito started, threw a 45-yard touchdown to Kyle Williams, and sat after two drives.

Gabriel's first half, Green's legs

Gabriel started and played the first half: 12 of 15, 186 yards, a 157.9 passer rating, points on Cleveland's first five drives. Floriea scored from 6 and 14 in the first quarter. Ahmani Marshall scored on a 7-yard screen late in the second. 27-10. Gabriel also hit Ben Patterson for 52 yards and Kole Wilson for 29.

This was his first real preseason look after spot fourth-quarter work in Weeks 1 and 2. He started six games as a rookie. He did not win the 2026 job. Deshaun Watson beat out Shedeur Sanders for that. Thursday was a third-QB tape.

Green, a sixth-round pick with a 4.36 forty, played the second half: 5 of 7 for 27 yards, eight rushes for 66. On second-and-9 from his own 3 he escaped the end zone and ran 30 yards around left end. That was the second play of the 98-yard drive. He had 5 carries for 46 yards and completed all four passes on that possession.

DeVito went 2 of 4 for 55 yards. Williams has now scored in all three preseason games. Behren Morton played the rest (18 of 28, 123 yards, two interceptions) and set up two Andy Borregales field goals.

Linebacker Edefuan Ulofoshio (bicep) and defensive tackle Elijah Chatman (quadriceps) did not return after first-half injuries.
