Broncos 20, Jaguars 13: Coleman, Then the Clock

September 20, 2026 - Denver - Jaylen Waddle had already taken one to the 1. Denver ran it three times from there and kicked. Bo Nix later threw a pick in the end zone. The Denver Broncos still left Empower Field with a 20-13 win because the fourth quarter finally looked like a red-zone tape they could live with.

Denver is 1-1. The Jacksonville Jaguars are 1-1. Jacksonville's nine-game regular-season winning streak is over, Sportsnet and the Jaguars both wrote. Waddle caught eight for 138, including the 49-yarder. Jonah Coleman scored from 3 yards for his first NFL touchdown.

Tuten from a yard, Lutz from 20, Lewis in the end zone

Bhayshul Tuten scored from a yard in the second quarter. 7-0. Nix then hit Waddle for 49. The Broncos had first-and-goal at the 1 and settled for Wil Lutz from 20, the club wrote. 7-3. Jourdan Lewis intercepted Nix in the end zone. Cam Little made 44 as the half expired. 10-3 Jacksonville.

The Jaguars opened the third with 11 plays to the Denver 5 and kicked from 23. 13-3. That was their last score. Liam Coen said the second half, specifically the fourth quarter, was not coached well enough and not played well enough. Jacksonville had 115 yards after halftime and a turnover, the club wrote.

Lutz made 45. 13-6. Then the red zone changed. Nix found Nate Adkins from 7. 13-13. J.K. Dobbins left with a hamstring injury, Reuters wrote. Coleman, the rookie, scored from 3 with 7:21 left. 20-13.

Seventeen unanswered, zero sacks on Nix

Nix was 22 of 31 for 288 yards, one score, and the pick. He was not sacked. Jacksonville had five sacks in the opener against Cleveland and none on Sunday, Coen said. Three hurries. Denver's line identified a couple of blitzes before the snap. Nix had five completions of 20-plus yards. The Broncos outgained Jacksonville in the first half and still trailed 10-3, the club wrote, because two goal-to-go trips became a field goal and a pick. The fourth-quarter trips became Adkins and Coleman. That is the 17-0 close.

Trevor Lawrence was 17 of 29 for 189 and the interception. He did not throw or run for a touchdown for the first time since Week 3 last season, Jacksonville wrote. Parker Washington caught seven for 98. Tuten ran 13 times for 65 and the 1-yard score. Little made 44 and 23 and hooked a 54-yarder after Ja'Quan McMillian nearly intercepted Lawrence, the Broncos said.

Coleman ran 10 times for 39 and caught three for 19. Dobbins had 10 for 36 before the hamstring. Courtland Sutton caught three for 25. Waddle converted three third downs, Denver wrote, and five of his catches gained more than 10 yards. Sean Payton called it a tale of two halves.

Jacksonville punted after Coleman's score. Denver ran out the last 4:41. Coleman got six of those carries for 33 yards, Sportsnet said. Riley Moss had an interception. Malcolm Roach had a sack. Alex Singleton filled up the tackle sheet. The Broncos had missed 28 tackles in Kansas City a week earlier. They cleaned that up enough to win a home opener. Lutz was 2 of 2 from 20 and 45. Little was 2 of 3. Tuten's 1-yard run was Jacksonville's only touchdown. The scoring summary on Denver's game center is 7-0, 7-3, 10-3, 13-3, 13-6, 13-13, 20-13. Every number after 13-3 belongs to Denver.

A streak that died in the fourth

Jacksonville had won those nine regular-season games by a combined 177 points, including 34-20 in Denver last December, Sportsnet wrote. This one was 13-3 in the third and 20-13 at the end. Lawrence never found the end zone. The Jaguars' defense allowed 392 yards. Next for Jacksonville was New England. Denver hosted the Rams on Sunday night.

Waddle had one catch for 2 yards in his Denver debut a week earlier. On Sunday he had 138, the second-most by a Bronco in a first home game, the club said. Payton liked the explosiveness and the run after catch. Sutton said it was the tip of the iceberg. The 49-yarder still became a field goal. The 7-yarder to Adkins did not.

Coleman is the name on the last touchdown. Nix is the name on the 288 yards. The win is the 17-0 close.

AthX Engine on a 138-yard home debut

AthX Engine NFL scoring already has the Week 2 line in. Moss's interception lands at 50.00, the top total in this game. Lewis is 45.00. Roach is 44.00. Waddle is 38.50. Washington is 28.60. Nix is 28.54. Singleton is 28.50. Tuten is 22.50. Coleman is 22.00. Denver's team line is 61.75. Jacksonville is -1.50.

Fantasy points measure the box. Price is what traders will pay for Waddle after 138 in a home debut, and for Lawrence after a streak ended without a touchdown. They move together. They are not the same number.

Track Nix, Waddle, Lawrence, Tuten, and both clubs on the marketplace. Denver hosted the Rams on Sept. 27. Jacksonville hosted New England that afternoon.
